Responsibility of the customer THE BASE To ensure stability & prevent dampness, the base
should be level & firm. An ideal base can be concrete paving slabs, a 3" to 4"
layer of hardcore, a firm bed of gravel, timber sleepers or the perfect base, concrete. Which of the above you decide to do is a matter of choice,
but it is strongly recommended that you place underfloor bearers (these can be supplied by us) on top of your prepared base.
By doing this you will prevent moisture seeping into the floor joists of your shed/summer house and will allow plenty of circulation
under the floor. Usually the first area to rot is the floor timbers and by carrying out this cheap and simple task your shed/summer
house will give you service for many years. Garages/Stables and certain other types of buildings will require bases built to specific
measurements to enable the structure to sit correctly. This will be discussed once you have contacted us regarding the type
of building you are considering. Unless our fixing service is used (available at
extra cost), Barnkirk Sawmill does not accept responsibility for fixing the building to the base. Planning consents if required are the customers responsibility. Remember, level & firm is the
key to a good base, help us to help you!! Barnkirk Sawmill will guarantee against defects, whether
it be materials or workmanship for a period of 12 months from date of purchase. During this time, should a fault arise under
normal circumstances, it will be repaired free of charge. Although Barnkirk Sawmill use only
the best of timber for your product, we cannot be responsible for natural timber traits, such as shrinkage, expansion, warping,
shakes, splits & cracking. It is possible due to timber being a natural product that you may experience some of these
natural processes Barnkirk Sawmill strongly recommend that your shed/summer
house is treated with a good quality oil/solvent based preservative at least once every 12-18 months depending on how much
weather it is exposed to, if you wish to use the same preservative we can supply you with 5ltr tins at a greatly discounted price. Under no circumstances will
Barnkirk Sawmill accept responsibility for any storm damage. None of the above affects your statutory rights. CONDITIONS OF SALE Goods are due payment on delivery of your order & shall remain
